Arianna Savall und Petter Udland Johanson vom Ensemble Hirundo Maris

Hirundo Maris- The voice in the evening

In 2009 Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen founded Hirundo Maris, which specialises in early music and the group’s own musical creations. Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johanson provided various pieces from their repertoire for use in the film ‘Stimme des Abends’ (‘The Voice in the Evening’). Together, they composed and performed the film’s final song – the poem by Rainer Maria Rilke ‘Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen’.

The soprano Arianna Savall was born in Basel in 1972 as the daughter of a Catalan musical family. She has played the harp since childhood is a composer. Her pieces cover an incredibly broad musical spectrum, which ranges from early music and contemporary music, world music, experimental music and through to baroque opera and jazz.

Petter Udland Johansen is a singer, conductor, composer and instrumentalist with a wide musical spectrum. He feels as much at home with classical music as he does performing popular music and folk music. He was born in Oslo Norway, where he received his first musical lessons in singing, violin and piano. He studied music at the Norwegian Academy of Music and early music at the Schola Cantorum Baseliensis in Basel.
