My childhood friend Kurt Caviezel – whom I haven’t seen in person for more than 10 years. As an artist and photographer who sees the internet as his camera, Kurt has been collecting images from tens of thousands of publicly accessible surveillance cameras around the world for 25 years from his studio in Zurich. I myself, who have been traveling around Europe as a digital nomad and photographer for five years, collect images directly on site. It was a very special meeting. Kurt in Zurich at night behind the weather camera in Kaaresuvanto, Finland, which publishes three images per hour on the internet with a slight delay – me in the midnight sun in front of the same camera. He virtually invisible – I physically present. The meeting remains unique.
PS
The reindeer visited me repeatedly throughout the night – but it only fulfilled my wish to step in front of the camera the next day.
